Together in Christ – Ecumenical Study Sessions

Categories: Events

2017 marks the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, and commemorations of the Reformation are happening all over the world. Something new and fresh that is happening this year is that Lutherans and Catholics will be marking this anniversary together; it’s a sign of how far we’ve come and how much closer we have grown in our relationship.  A number of Lutheran and Roman Catholic churches in Winnipeg are getting together this year to participate in a 5-session study series called Together in Christ. The study was prepared by a group of Lutherans and Catholics from across Canada – I was one of the members of the group – and it is designed to help us understand what led to our divisions, to appreciate the healing that is happening, and to look forward in hope to our future as members of the Body of Christ.

Two of the sessions have already taken place, but we’re still invited to participate in the last three. The next one is happening on April 19th at St. Alphonsus Roman Catholic Church at 7:00 p.m., and I’d be glad to have you join me at that session.  If you’re interested in going, feel free to get in touch with me (or feel free just to show up on your own!). If enough of you are interested, we could also get together before then for a brief review of the first two sessions.
You can find more information about the series here, and a poster is available in the Epiphany Narthex or here to print.
